spinnaker block positioning

Postby Peter McMinn » Wed May 07, 2003 2:57 pm

Roger, I think your question about positioning spinnaker blocks warrents a new thread! The previous owner of my boat had it professionally rigged and raced a lot, so I assume they were positioned correctly. They are located about 6"OC forward of the transom rubrail, and about 3"OC from the gunnel rubrail. I'd be interested in the rationale for this positioning, as I've seen them more inboard on the aft decks of other boats.
Somebody might chime in with a recomendation from the manufacturer--wasn't there a DS1 handbook floating around?

Thanks for starting a new thread on this topic. What do you cleat the spinnaker sheets on? I am assuming cam cleats and have ordered two for installation, but my chandler also recommended clam cleats. The ones he had however were not large enough to accommodate the 5/16 diameter sheets.

I use full swivel clam cleats by Harken located about 2' aft of the cuddy. These allow for free movement of the spin. sheets.
