Wrecked DS 1 - Need parts?

Postby hurf » Mon Sep 26, 2022 7:30 pm

Hi,
A tree fell on Silver Swan, my DS 1 - a friend of 40yrs.
The bow was crushed and that snapped the forestay but other than that, everything
except the hull is undamaged except the mast tab for forestay needs to be replaced or re-drilled on mast and new forestay made. All fittings are good.
In any case I was going to save all the removable bits. Should I keep all the wood trim?
Someone on the forum mentioned a center board. I'll be dismantling the hull and taking it to
the dump sometime soon.

Looking for another DS 1 so keeping the sails and sheets for now.

Located near Ithaca, NY - Cayuga Lake
cheers,
hurf

Sorry to hear about the misfortune that befell your boat.

The place to list parts for sale is in the For Sale section of the site.

Hello hurf,
I’m sorry to hear about you losing Silver Swan after
so many years of owning her.
Would you please let me know if you still have the complete
rudder assembly. I’m looking for a new rudder to fit my
1966 DS 1.
Thank you, Bob

Just to remind everyone. The forum software sweeps the listings every 60 days, so if you post something in the slow season, be sure to save what you posted so you can re-list things as needed. There's no method to extend an existing listing from this end, but no rule that prevents you from listing the same item as often as necessary.

Thank you GL. I listed my ad searching for a DS 1 rudder in the Wanted To Buy section.
Hopeful to find a complete rudder in any condition.
