Emergency bottle opener

Hi:

I do believe that a government grant is in order to be sure that the emergency bottle opener in the DS I, is safe and effective. I am sure about $1.5 million would be in order. I can see that many trial runs, at different wind speeds would be in order to also see if it is safe to open the bottles at the various winds speeds. And do not forget wave height. maybe another half million added to the study.

I will try it out myself when the spring comes. Thanks for the information. I can guarantee that this could be one of the most useful bits of DaySailer advice seen in this forum.

Fair winds and be sure to give Neptune a taste of the bubbly.

In itemizing my winter maintenance schedule on my '60 boat, I for one will be mounting a tried and true Coka-cola bottle opener, right off an original '68 vending machine.

Installation a litttle higher on the trunk than the pivot will help ensure that more of the bottle contents is delivered to it's intended destination, thus allowing for longer and more enjoyable outings.

Logistics for port and starboard tacks need to be ironed out.

Just add Two :lol: one on each side. No need to worry about what tack you are on.

One knows one ALWAYS keeps said churchkey securely fastened to the knot in the bitter end of the mainsheet, because one knows one NEVER lets go of said sheet, and even if one gets tossed overboard in a capsize, the last thing in one's hand will be the end of said mainsheet, and the first thing one will need upon recovering from said capsize will be said cold cylinder! :roll:

Also, this way, tacks become a non-issue ... 8)
