I printed a logo onto tracing paper then laid it onto a wet with varnish surface, then varnished over it. The paper wets out and disappears, but the logo remains. I got better succes with this method than I did with stencils.

Roger... what type of printer (inkjet or laser) did you use for the tracing paper output?

Some have suggested an inkjet logo may "run" when its ink contacts the solvents within the varnish.

I had heard that as well but tried it on a similar piece of wood first and there was no problem so I tried it on my cedar strip canoe and it was just fine. send me an e-mail with request and I'll return a picture of the canoe logo done with tracing paper. roger02 att mts dott net
