boom vang

Postby adam aunins » Sun May 06, 2007 10:09 am

My boat also did not come with a boom vang. There is a fitting on the boom that has a key-hole slot in it to fix the factory boom vang to. D&R marine sells a complete boom vang kit that is a duplicate of the original for $89 and from the shopping I've done that price is very very very hard to beat. If anyone else knows of a place to get one at a lower price I would like to hear about it before I buy.

boom vang

I purchased my boom vang from DRmarine last year, for my DS I. Works great and very easy to install. I do not think you will be able to find a good one for less. When I placed my order online, I received it in a very short time, I think only about 3-4 days. I was very satisfied with Rudy's service.

Good luck and fair winds !!

Yes, get it from Rudy. Get everything from Rudy. Not only will it be the right size and fit and be the perfect part for your Daysailer, you'll be supporting someone who knows about these boats in every detail. If you buy from some other places in order to save $5 (dubious) then Rudy wouldn't be there anymore to answer questions. In our world he's the local store down the corner about to get eaten up by Walmart.

Besides, I just love hearing regional accents. They remind me of places I used to live. "Cah-los. Oh sure, ah remembah you."

For the boom on the rear deck problem, you can do as I do and take beer bottle cooler, you know, the soft foam ones you slide a beer into, and slide it on the end of the boom and leave it there. It works great and I haven't lost one yet.

It also helps lesson the impact on you fellow skippers noggin when you jibe just a bit to close :)
