No resale value? Can't Sell 1969 Day Sailer in good cond.

I have listed my day sailer on this site for almost two months. No takers. Very limited interest.
Hull is in very good condition. So is boom and rudder. Mast itself has many new parts. New roller on top of mast, new tabernackle (hing on mast), new spreaders. I even delayed listing the boat to obtain a new spreader tip that cost me $40. Sails are original but work. Trailer also in good shape. 6 hp johnson also in good shape.
I can't believe the lack of interest.
Originally thought I would be beating off all the serious inquiries I was going to receive. Originally listed for $1000. Then $800. Now $500 for boat without the engine. I can sell the engine locally and get several hundred dollars for it since it has been very well maintained. The trailer itself is worth money by itself.
These boats have no resale value. Any suggestions.

Tim:

These boats do have resale value. Your problem is with the local market.
I think $1000 is a great price! Have you tried advertising on craigslist.com and sailingtexas.com?

Definitely post an add with www.craigslist.com. There are lists specific to New Jersey, Delaware, and Philadelphia. Post to each of them. It's free, so why not? You might also place an add with the Nor'easter and The Mariner, newspapers specific to boating on the Chesapeake. Here's the website for The Mariner. http://www.chesapeakeclassified.com/classifieds/. I don't have the other. Good luck.

Tim,

New Jersey is a bit south from Maine; however, I might be able to persuade an interested party.

Can you forward pictures or post them on the forum? Also, would you be willing to meet somewhere in the middle to meet and transfer the boat? How is its trailer?

Thanks,

Ray

There is a buyer on this forum looking to buy a 1980's DS1 from someone, hopefully, in eastern Massachusetts. Can contact (him/her) at bfine@ziplink.net

For sale in NJ?

Thanks to all for the encouragement in selling my day sailer. I sold the boat to a very nice couple who already had a daysailer (damaged).
My wife and I feel that our daysailer found a good home.
