CenterBoard Repair

Postby Guest » Wed May 31, 2000 12:00 am

Our Center Board does not always stay in the trunk when pulled up. I believe it has a square hole in it that the shaft fits through and the hole may be rounding out in it. Is there a way to repair it or put a square fitting in the centerboard? Also, while on the water the board wants to ride up or recede back into the trunk. We are continuously putting it back down. Please advise. Thanks.

Just tighten the 3 screws on the handle plate. You need enough friction to keep the CB down when sailing and up when beaching or in shallow water.

If the square hole is rounded, there's not an easy fix. If the handle is still square (and it often is), you could try and glass in a new brass disk into the CB or a new CB is about $195 from the Cape Cod folks...
