Mahogany trim purpose

Postby Guest » Tue Jun 13, 2000 12:00 am

I have an old DS 1 and I have an intersting question about the piece of mahogany trim way forward in the cuddy. On the floatation tank in the bow there is a piece of mahogany trim with a v shaped notch in the center. Can anyone tell me the purpose of this notch? I would guess there must be some piece of hardware or something that I am missing?

Eric,

Here's my guess. The notch might have been to hold one end of whisker pole and then other end would tether up high near the back edge of the cuddy. I've seen several DS owners do this, but I'm not sure if they cut a notch in the forward wood.
