Greetings Folks,
I picked up my 1969 DS1 last fall via the local classifieds. I'm in the process of restoring it and need some advice on the deck. The prior owner painted the deck and it is peeling. I'd like to strip and repaint but don't know how to remove it without harming the gel coat underneath. Suggestions? Thanks!

Since you said it is peeling have you considered power washing the deck? The only downside is the flying specs of paint that you'll have to clean up on whatever surface you have your boat on.
I powerwashed the old paint that was chipping off under the cuddy and around the centerboard trunk. It beat scraping it off but I was able to contain all the old paint.
Good luck.
