Rebuilding mast step

Postby jackal » Fri Apr 19, 2013 5:50 pm

Can someone please check my measurement of the distance between the forward bulkhead (measured along the keelson) to the forward part of the mast step.

I'm getting roughly 19.5"

My step and a large chunk of the laminate under it broke down into the keelson, thanks to the prior owner. I get the opportunity to build back up the laminate and reinstall the step.

Welcome to the forum!

I don't have my DS at hand, so I can't give you the measurement. However, it occurs to me, if you to to all the trouble of rebuilding this, you might consider making the fore-aft location of the mast step somewhat adjustable, which would allow you to fine tune mast rake and/or pre-bend.

Others in the forum have played with these and I'm sure they'll be along and offer advice.
