DS 2590 is mine

Postby Skitch » Sun Sep 29, 2013 7:47 pm

I recently purchased DS 2590 from a Craigslist ad. Only sailing I have done in the past was at summer camp as a kid, and a couple of rides on friends boats. What a great little boat. My wife and I bought "Sailing for Dummies", and are learning the sheets on the 100 acre lake behind our house before venturing out to larger waters. We are having a blast. When you nail a tack, it is so cool. We had 5-10 with gusts to 15 yesterday. The gusts to 15 were pushing our skills. At one point I really wanted to dump some wind, but didn't have the sheet in my hand, and didn't dare lean forward to grab it.

She will be re-christened "La Petite Crevette".

If you need to lean forward to reach the mainsheet, you are sitting too far in the back. So it was a jib sheet? Usually, I get away with spilling air from the main in the conditions you mention.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy the ride!
