Hull & Class #

Postby Guest » Sun Jun 14, 1998 12:00 am

My Day Sailor's manufacturer's ID Plate reads:

Hull# 17442/Class 3119
O'Day Companion Fall River/Mass.

My sails only have "DS" on them...no numbers.

Any information on it's history would be appreciated.
Thanks, Joe

You may have Day SAiler (DS) sailes but with a hull # in the 17,000 you may not have a true Day Sailer 1. Currently they are produceing boats with 14,000 sail numbers. Take a look at some of the pictures on this site or the National Page http://forum.daysailer.org to see if your boat looks the same.

I've been told the hull number is the number for all boats that O'Day was building and that it is the class number that is used to track the number for your boat within a particular class. Therefore, you have the 3119th boat built which would definitely be a DS 1.
