centerboard trunk closer to port side

Postby Guest » Thu Nov 21, 2002 12:29 am

A while back I was lounging around in my DS1 (age ?...hull #4480) when I noticed there was noticeably less room between the port seat and centerboard trunk then on the starboard side. The trunk's wood side support piece on the port side was also shorter then the one on the starboard side. Made a couple rough measurements using a tape measure and it appears the difference is likely in the shape, or curvature, of the hull's port side verses starboard side. The centerboard trunk appears straight up & down, not cocked to one side. Don't see any obvious damage to the hull. Is this a "normal" condition, the result of how they were originally built. Any one else notice the same thing with their boat? It seems to sail fine.
