enclosing the cubby of a day sailor 1

Postby Guest » Fri Jul 02, 2004 6:17 pm

I have an older day sailor one with the open cuddy. I have thought of enclosing the cuddy with plywood and fibreglass and expoxy and adding a hatch like the new models. I also am interested in suggestions for resealing the seats, repairs to the centerboard and setting the boat up for spinnaker use. My centerboard leaks for a while when I put it in and adjusting the c-board up and down is sometimes difficult. Thanks.

While I personally would not want an enclosed cuddy, I suppose it could be done as long as you are not adding too much weight forward.

If you replace the gasket on the lift handle for the centerboard, it will probably stop leaking. I also like to squeeze some silicon in the bolt holes before I reattach the handle. The board might be easier to raise and lower with the new gasket. Depending on how tight you need to make the bolts to keep the board down will determine this also.
