tiller extension placement

Postby calden » Thu Jun 01, 2006 9:59 am

Hey all:

Want a tiller extension. Sitting in the forward part of the cabin, up by the cuddy deck, leaning out a bit, my hand is just about 3' fore of the tiller's end.

I thus figure that getting a telescoping extension, 2.5'-4', attached about a foot back from the tiller end, would work well. But never having attached or used one on this boat (only using one on a little Sunfish) I can't say for sure this would be the right place.

Any suggestions on exact placement?

Thanks,
Carlos

My Guess

I placed mine back enough that I can get a comfortable grip on the tiller when not using the extension. Other than that I would say it is up to you.

location of tiller extender

My pivot is located about a hands breadth from the forward end of the tiller. It lets me sit almost at the cuddy, and I can just reach inside for a snack or whatever.

Thanks, guys. Your comments help a lot. Dad's Day is coming up, so I know what I'm asking for!
