Shelves

Hi John

I had a 1982 Spindrift DS1 which I built shelves for. I measured an existing fiberglass shelf out of an older Day Sailer. I made the shelves out of pine and mahogeny plywood. I screwed some wood blocks to the underside of the deck and hung the shelves from there.

I can send you a picture if you like.

Here is the image. I hope the link works. It's the first time I've tried it.

Shelves

I think I could have done a better job of fastening the shelves. I made an L bracket out of wood. The top is glued and screwed to the deck. The shelf is then attached to the side of the L with a single nut and bolt at each end. I just made a set for my Mariner and I'm using metal L brackets attached to some wood pieces I epoxied to the deck.

That is a magic box I used for tensioning the jib. Seemed to help upwind performance.
