stainless rudder

Postby Guest » Fri Aug 06, 1999 12:00 am

Is anyone using a stainless rudder blade? I have a friend who can make me one, but only about 1/8" thick. I don't know if this is strong enough to control the boat. Does anyone know?

Stainless rudders are not allowed per the one-design rules:

6.4 RUDDER: The rudder shall be of built-up or molded fiberglass and
resin material or of wood covered with fiberglass and resin. The
profile of the rudder shall conform to Drawing 6.3. The rudder profile
plan shall be a fair curve, approximately circular, between the
reference points 6” above line z - z.
