centerboard delaminating only at bushing

Hey all:
My centerboard is leaking at the square bronze bushing. Fine at the edges. I can see that on one side the fg is about 1/16" away from the bushing, and can be pushed back on. No cracks or breaks, just this slight separation, letting in about a pint of water per sail.
Best fix? I'm thinking of just jamming some epoxy in there and clamping it, but I'm wondering about how well the epoxy will stick to the bronze. I was thinking of drilling a 1/2" hole next to it, on one side only and not going all the way through, then filling that area with an epoxy filler "plug," then clamping it, as sort of a big fat strut to hold the sides together next to the bushing.
Any ideas? Please don't tell me I need to remove the fg all around the bushing. I hate the smell of that stuff when it's cut.
Thanks,
Carlos
