Cuddy hatch

Postby Guest » Tue Oct 19, 1999 12:00 am

My DSII has a vinyl hatch cover that I want to replace with a wooden hatch. I can make the hatch in my shop and I have already read where to get the gasket material. I am having trouble finding some type of latch to keep the hatch in place. What should I use and how many will it take? I have considered attaching a bungy to the center of the hatch and then to the mast.

Hi Mike,

My DSII hatch is a two-piece plywood thing. The left side fits in place first and is secured by fitting the right side into place. The right side locks by means of a hasp screwed to the top of the cuddy opening. It passes through a slot near the top of the right panel. If you'd like pictures, email me at rbeard@earthlink.net and I'll send you some JPEG shots I took showing the details.
Happy sailing,

Bob
