cracked around mast opening

Postby bobtheking » Wed Jul 02, 2008 4:34 pm

I just "came into" a DaySailer II and while putting the mast up, it fell.. cracking the roof of the cabin. Can this be repaired with fiberglass mesh?

Yes and it's been done to a lot of these boats so don't feel to bad.

I read somewhere (on this forum I think) that if your mast isn't hinged you can fill a milk jug or bleach bottle with water and tie it to the horn cleat on your mast that's just below the boom. That way as you stand on top of the cuddy roof and hold onto the mast above the jug it will keep the mast from wanting to fall over on you.

P.S. My son is bugging me to put in a happy face so this is the one he picked out

Thank you. I was panicking. I have since read that the repair really isnt that difficult. Hopefully I can get it done without much trouble. Thanks for the tip about the milk jug.
