Battery installation.

I just bought a trolling motor and plan to mount battery as follows: Put the battery in one of the plastic containers made for this purpose and setting it in front of the base of the mast. There is a nylon strap that goes around the container vertically to hold the lid on. Put a couple hose clamps around the mast and nylon strap. I will put two small holes in the cuddy floor and run the wires under the cockpit and out a drain hole at the rear. How does this sound? Does anyone have a better alternative?
