I have purhased a 16' day sailer for a few hundred dollars which needs a lot of work. The work is underway. It has an outboard rudder and tiller, a retractable keel and a 22' mast with main sail and jib. It's a mess but the hull seems sound. Repairs are underway.
My question is: Can anyone tell me what make and model and perhaps what year it might be?

Thanks in advance.

Greetings from Sudbury,
You're a lucky individual to be able to sail in Killarney! I think you are the proud new owner of a Siren 17. These were made by Vandestadt and McGruen in Owen Sound for about 25 years, but they went out of business in 1987.
There are a couple of websites dedicated to this very popular Canadian daysailer (for example, the Siren Yahoo Group) which will proabably be a valuable resource as you bring your Siren back to life.
Regards,
Marv
(Ice gone for over 2 weeks now...boat in the water....wohooo!!!)

Have you tried to identify the boat on this site?

It might also help if you posted the beam measurement.
