I recently bought a 1984 DS II and so far i love it. But it's missing one thing, the goose neck pin the goes through the tack of the sail. Where can i get one? What's the diameter? Can I use a 1/4 x 1.5 quick release pin? It fits but a little on the loose side.

Dumb question, but you've called Rudy at D&R, right?

He's got the gooseneck casting with pin for 20 bucks. Maybe he's got some spare pins.

Does the gooseneck fitting have a threaded hole on one side of it to receive the pin? We have a DS1 which uses an "L" shaped pin with threads on the end, I ordered a few spares from Cape Cod Shipbuilding but I do not recall the exact cost. To prevent them from slipping overboard I drilled a hole in the short end to receive a split ring and attached a piece of utility cord to tie to the gooseneck hinge area.

pjr:

I just reread my answer and realized it sounded like I thought your question was dumb.

I meant my question might be considered dumb, in that D&R is usually the "go to" on this site, and you probably already thought of it.

Hope my post wasn't misunderstood.

Just thought I'd clear that up.

It's ok i knew what you meant.

I ended up using a 1/4 x 2 pin that i found at west marine. It's got a split ring on one end and a ball detent on the other. Works good so far but at some point I'm going get the actual pin.

Thank you
