Hull / deck separation

I have a 1984 DS2, I recently noticed that deck is separating from the hull. There are a number of cracks from the stern about two thirds up towards the bow on either side. What caused this? How do i fix it? How do i stop it from happening again?

Whoa, that sounds pretty bad. Being that you are on the Cape it seems like it might be a good idea to take your boat over to Cape Cod Shipbuilding and get their opinion. They are in Wareham.

That's kind of far away, I'm on the lower cape. But I think I'm going to have to take it someplace and have it professionally repaired. Not sure yet.
