I acquired a 1984 Spindrift DSI last summer. Having no place to store it, this winter it sat, covered by a tarp, in a friends pasture. The mast step, a stainless U with slots on each side was screwed to the cuddy roof and sitting on a stub secured to the cuddy floor. The mast has a pin running through it, port to starboard, that fits in these slots.
Now the mast step is floating free of the cuddy roof, with a 1/4 to 1/2 inch skirt of shredded fibreglass decking attached to it. I don't know whether the snow load pushed the cuddy roof down, and the stub mast punched the step up, or something even weirder happened.
How do I repair this? In the past I did fibreglass lay-up for a few summers, and I have some mechanical skills. Any recommendations welcome, including the name of a yard that will do a competent and reasonably priced job ( I'm in central Vermont).
