Pressure Washing the hull

I just hauled the boat from it's mooring for the season. The bottom had less then usual growth clinging to the bottom but still a nice thick coat. I took it to the local car wash and gave it good rinse, I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of algae it took off but still not a clean surface.
My plan is to break down and put a coat of bottom paint on for next season.
I have used chemical cleaners in the past with good results but I am thinking that perhaps renting a pressure washer for an afternoon might be more environmentally friendly.
Question??
Is high pressure water going to pose a risk to the surface? If not, I can rent a 2500 PSI or a 3600 PSI unit. Any recommendations?
Thanks as usual in advance.
