You're welcome. I try not to overdo it, and also, sometimes discussions go off on tangents, or combine topics from the start. But I will gently apply my moderator powers when that would make the forum a better resource for those who missed the live discussion and come after and are looking for info.

Stuff for vehicles usually does use polyester resin. (The one where you add a little bit of catalyst that smells like crazy).

Epoxy is usually a 2:1 mixture of resin and hardener. Has little smell (but keep it off your skin, as it can make you allergic from exposure). Cleans with vinegar when uncured, acetone when cured.

For sealing wood, there's a big difference; epoxy is it. For laminating fiberglass not as big. Epoxy is the better glue, and doesn't shrink on curing.

Not that hard to work with, just need to totally respect the mixing ratio. If it is 2:1 by volume, you better be exact! (Adding more hardener, will mean some of it won't find a chemical partner, like on a dance floor, and will sit around inside the matrix making it weaker. That's different from polyester, where changing the amount of catalyst by a bit will mainly speed up or slow down the reaction).

I will keep that in mind, do some practicing on scraps. I enjoyed looking around at the dance floor I went to on Sunday nights for those who had not been dancing and ask them to dance. one became a favorite, overweight , so the younger guys passed her by for the prettier ones with the low cut dress. but could she dance, and spin and stop on a dime. had a great time dancing with her.
