floor interstice access

Postby Guest » Mon May 12, 2003 3:48 pm

I am looking to add a 4" threaded port to the floor to at the stern drain area to allow access to get corks out and install a bailer in the future. Any stress or cracking experience?

Which version of the DS do you have? An inspection port will not help access the area of the self-bailer on the DS II or III, and the hull (or bilge) drain is usually plugged from outside and only opened while the boat is out of the water anyway.
The DS I is all open in any area where a drainplug would need to go, and the DS IV usually has a bailer installed at the low point in the cockpit up forward on one side of the CB trunk (or both sides). The bailers on the DS IV will only work while on the trailer or in the water sailing fast.
