Broken Outhaul on a Proctor Boom

Postby Guest » Thu Sep 18, 2003 12:21 am

I have a broken outhaul on my Proctor Boom. The internal purchase is shot. The only part that is still good is the wire section that connects to the clew of the sail.
Does anyone know how I can rig up a new internal outhaul?

Hi Mike, the proctor site www.proctormasts.com has drawings on the internal rigging of their booms. Refering to them I was able to replace the outhaul, on my daysailer, last year. The wire cable in the boom was routed incorrectly. When I replaced the wire cable with 1/8 inch hi-tech line, the mechanical abvantage improved.
