cleaning long dormant ds

Postby Guest » Sun May 23, 2004 11:50 am

Hi folks, I have a spindrift DS1 that has been in storage for more than 10 years. The deck and the interior have green/black spots all over them. Any suggestions on cleaning/products? Thanks.

Havn't seen anything that bad, maybe a mold of some kind. I would try some kind of chlorine based product, maybe something used to clean outdoor plastic chairs, or deck cleaner, or shower cleaner, "Greased Lightning" or try a solution of "Oxyclean" etc., with a long handle scrub brush and scrub-a-dub-dub.

Try Mr Clean Magic Eraser! I used it on the moldy deck of my ds2 and it was amazing!
By the way, I love this site. Keep it up!

cleaning green gunk off deck

NO PROBLEM! NO SCRUBBING!
Use TILEX.
also a wood bleaching powder mixed with water will make your fiberglass look like new and will not harm anything. (OXOLIC ACID) try it you will be amazed!

I used Simple Green and elbow grease. Looked wonderful after sitting outside dormant for two years.
