Looking for DS boom

Postby talbot » Sun Apr 20, 2008 1:41 pm

This is a repost from last year. I'm still looking for a used boom for a DSII. Mine is bent. I'm in Eugene, OR, would drive to collect. I see there's one for saile in New Hamshire, but that's a bit far.

BOOM

Postby adam aunins » Wed Apr 23, 2008 11:28 am

If your boom is a Dwyer you can order the bare extrusion from them and put all of you old hardware on it. That might be the easist thing to do, or you might look to buy a whole boat that's next to being junked and use it for parts (I hate to think anyone would ever do that) but you never know some of them just can't be saved.

Boom advice

Postby talbot » Wed Apr 23, 2008 6:17 pm

Thanks for the tip. Looks like it might be a little cheaper than ordering from D&R, but I'll check.

The last thing I need is another old boat in my yard. I've had a flotilla of drydocked dinghies on my lawn in the past, but I've reformed.

Check out Cape Cod also. I am in the same boat.
Bent/cracked my 43 year old boom while leading a race at an important regatta last summer.

The #1 size seems to be the same as the old stock boom that was on Lollipop before I broke it.

Thanks. Looks to be about the same price as buying extrusion from Dwyer ($8.25 x 10'2").
I'm now the proud owner of a venerable Proctor boom, acquired from a former DS racer in Portland, and am trying to figure out how to attach it to my Dwyer mast.
