bomm vang

Any body have a picture of how their boom vang is set up? I have all the parts, except the piece that attaches to the mast, and not sure how to proceed. If you don't have a picture, I sure would appreciate a good verbal discription.

Roger -

Assuming you have a DS1.

You should have a bail that is on the mast just above the mast partners (where the mast goes through the cuddy).

I then just use a twist shackle (or a straight will work, depending on the block you use), to attach the vang to the bail.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I have a DS 2, but that gives me sufficient information regarding placement. Thanks.

Hey Roger, I just bought a 15:1 Dingy Vang from APS to use on my DS1. It's nice but kind of expensive. I think it's a Harken H447. You can find it on the Harken website is you want to check it out.

Wow! 15:1 You should really be able to bend that spar out of shape if you wanted to. I installed a 3:1 on the weekend, and will give it a try soon. I have to paint a hull first.
