need sails

Postby sailing5207 » Sun Jan 29, 2006 2:51 pm

I have a 1981 Spindrift daysailer and would like to purchase a set of sails. The boat is 17" long and when I purchased the boat it did not come with any sails. Will the O'days work and this boat as well? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks David

many odays

There are over 30 odays ranging from 12 to 40 feet, so obviously not all sails will fit. The main you want for a 17' daysailer is 20' 6" on the luff, 10' on the foot, and 21' 9" on the leech. The jib is 15' on the luff, 7' on the foot, and 13' on the leech.

Need Sails

Sailing5207 If you go to home page, hit Technical Info, hit "Hull # Index" and it shows that Spindrift made the DS-1 82/85. So if you have a true "Daysailor-1", I think it should have the same sail plan as made by Oday and others on the list. Check if you have identification class # that is in the series on the list. So I assume that any DS-1 sails would fit, and probably DS-2 as well. Maaybe some with hands on info can "wade in", or "weigh in" ???

In reading the specs and measures page of the website, you are correct. A DS II or III or any other DS I will fit the Spindrift.
