Source for DS trailers

Postby swampcat » Sun Sep 21, 2008 12:28 am

I need a trailer, bad, for Miss Natalie (a 1973 DS II). I think the trailer is the original, it's rusted out at the springs, axel, spindle (tire flat with seriously rusted wheels), etc, the lights are shot....

who is a good source in Florida or South Georgia?

and what is a fair price?

the boat is high and dry with the best sailing weather soon upon us....aaaaaarg

Karavan trailer...

Postby oldnellie » Sun Sep 21, 2008 8:46 am

I paid $550 for a brand new Karavan trailer a couple of years ago...it was the bunk bed type and galvanized, with the winch. It wasn't for my Daysailer but it looks like a twin to the one I use for it. The capacity rating was for boats in the 900-1200 lbs range. The only thing you might have to add would be a 'roller' for the centerboard to rest on. There's plenty of used stuff out there but I tend to tow for 200+ miles sometimes and I wanted the peace of mind that new brings.
