Bondo

I was working on my new (to me)Daysailer II. I was thinking that being a 30 yr old boat , and having had ,who knows, how many owners. I seems that every owner added something, usually poorly, like cleats just screwed to the deck with no backing and numerous jam cleats. As I was removing all the things that I didnt want I was wondering about all the holes that were left. Has anyone ever used Bondo to fill things like this? Basicly Bondo is just a polyester resin with the filler or microballoons already added. I am really thinking about using it, If this is all wrong Please Stop me before I do wrong. Thanks.

Use it like any polyester resin. cover exposed areas with a bit of gelcoat mixed with the bondo. You can color match almost perfectly.

I had a boat that the bottom looked like it had been pulled over rocks.
there was long deep gouges in the glass. I filled the openings with bonds, sanded it down nice and smooth and then put a coat of resin over the area and sanded again. It held up for the 3 years that I owned the boat...
I have also put bondo into screw holes and nefver had a problem.
