transom plug/ jib halyard

I recently purchased a DS II and have a couple questions. There are two holes in the transom; one to drain the cockpit and the other appears to drain the hull. This one is missing a plug. What size do I need and would a cork work or should it be soomething threaded, even though it doesn't appear as though the hole itself has threading?
Also, The jib halyard (a wire/line type) has frayed. Should I get something similar or would just dacron line work? I have no intention on racing this boat.

The hull drain on my DS II is not a big plug but it is threaded. I don't think it is a standard size. If you want to order original, hit the home page link above, then go to parts and accessories. Rudy at D & R has the original parts and the price list in on line. My boat is in the driveway so if you want a picture of the plug, with measurements, I can send it to you if that would help in your search.
As for the jib halyard, mine is all dacron 1/4" x 36 feet.

Someone once told me that the hull drain plug is the same as the one used for the laser. I don't know if this is true or not, but it might be a place to start.

I have found that a "live well" plug will work. They make several sizes. You should be able to find one at any marina or even at a bait shop.

I've recently acquired a day sailer II and it has a plug on the inside and we use a reusable wine cork on the outside. It does seem to take on some water but still sails great.
I am not very familiar with the bilge and when the plug on the bottom of the boat should be down or up. I have been screwing it down when sailing and opening it when it is on the lift.
