Centerboard rope travel

I am sure some other DSII owner knows this. I am trying to figure out the distance the lowering line travels in a DSII. I am concerned that my board isn't all the way down when the knot at the top of the rope reaches the pulley attached to the cuddy roof. My guess is the travel distance of the knot is somewhere around 6 inches or so, but feel like the knot may be too high so the board isn't all the way down when the knot is at the top. I probably haven't explained this well, but if you have any tips, I would appreciate them.

There are two ways to check for full down position. The first is easy, and you won't like the second one.

When the knot is up against the blocks, grab the line just where it comes out of the top of the centerboard trunk and give it a tug. If it somes some more, then you will need to knot your line a bit shorter. Usually when the board goes down you can hear the thud as it seats against the forward part of the slot. If this is not the case, then take a swim, and with your feet feel the board and move it forward. Sometimes there is grunge that piles up in the slot and prevents it from going down all the way.
