Every time I put the boat back in the water after trailering, the CB sticks and I have to go down under the boat and pull it down by hand. When this first occurred, I took the boat to a yard and they supposedly improved it, but the problem has not been fully resolved. After the boat is back in the water and I have worked the board a few times, it seems to work more or less o.k. Is this common?

I should add that even when the CB is working "well", I still have to pull straight up and pretty hard on the line that comes vertically into the cuddy (i.e. I can't use the pulley system in the cockpit) to get the CB to release from the jaws of the trunk, then it goes up and down relatively easily from being slightly deployed to fully deployed. Is that normal? If not, is the solution to sand down the board to make it thinner? Do the boards swell up with age?

I don't know if it's normal but mine does the same thing.

My down haul cable comes out aft of the jib cleats on the CB trunk and has what I would call a 4:1 pulley set up on the line and I broke the rope the first time I took the boat out. After I put new line on it I will have to put some real force into it to get it to go down from the full up position. After I've worked it a time or to while out it will move freely for awhile then stick again. I think that maybe the cable inside of the trunk is getting between the CB and the side of the CB housing. My hope is that I will pull the CB out when I repair and paint my hull and find out for sure what is going on.
