Am looking for best and easiest to make a water tight
cover arrangement for the opening in the cuddy of a
Day Sailer II

Well, I would not call it "watertight" at least not as stock, but Rudy Nickerson at D&R Marine still makes the original equipment cuddy enclosure boards. They keep out most of the rain and are lockable. If your Day Sailer II has a "keel-stepped" mast, you will also find that rain water and even spray while sailing will come in around the mast where it passes through the cuddy deck (roof). I am working on a solution to this, but have not found one yet.
