Fun, Easy Project to Cover Cuddy Drain Holes

Postby danamags » Tue May 31, 2011 11:34 am

The cuddy drain holes were driving me nuts - mostly as they seemed to be a great avenue for bugs to crawl into the cuddy then fly out at me when i open up the doors. Soooo, I decided to create a quick solution to plug them when I didnt need them open. I thought I'd share the project with anyone else who had this issue.

Supplies included a pair of PVC pipe covers from Lowes, and one foot of 1 1/4 inch outter diameter tube, a serrated blade, super glue, a drill and two cotter pins (optional)

Here's some photos of the final product and the means to creating this are pretty self explanatory by the pics.

The holes are also the same size as a standard drain plug, so you can use the same kind of plug that goes in the transom (the big plug by the gudgeons, not the small one in the bilge). They also take the standard brass drain liners if you want a really precise fit.
