Dirty Bottom

I got thinking about what was on the bottom of my "new" Daysailers bottom this morning. I remember the previous owner saying he had left it in the water a couple of seasons. I tried a pressure washer and without rubbing it with something course, I couldn't get the stuff to budge. As I cleaned the shower door in our bathroom I thought about the stuff I was using and why the glass door need cleaning. Minerals! So down to the boat I went with Bartenders Friend spray foam and gave it a squirt. The first test I only sprayed a small area and only sprayed it off with a garden hose. The larger area, I scrubbed with a stiff brush on a stick. I think, if I had scrubbed it to spread out the Bartenders Friend and then left it for an hour or so, it might have been even cleaner. But after about 10 minutes I sprayed and scrubbed some and you can see the results.

If you have a better way to clean fresh water deposits, I'd like to hear it, but this worked for me. I also had used muriatic acid on an old power boat years ago, it worked as well, but most of the growth was algae like stuff, so it as stubborn.
