Stern ring?

Howdy folks. After weeks/months of self teaching and research I've gotten my $220 Daysailer II ready for the water, I'll probably take her out for my first sail today. The only rigging or attachment point I'm confused about is a ring on the inside of the transom, pic attached. Is this just for stern anchoring or is there another use?

Thanks!

The ring is probably for the hiking straps that run from the transom to the eyes low at the front of the cockpit below the cubby opening. My daysailer II has two rings on the transom. I also use the aft rings for lifting points with a bridle.

Chris, thanks for the reply! There are holes near the cabin where padeyes used to be so your explanation makes sense. Thanks again!
