Mast for Daysailer II

Postby crisanderson » Tue Sep 03, 2024 10:23 pm

Had glorious mishap and now need a mast and standing rigging for my 1984 Daysailer II. Mast mounts on bracket on top of deck. Any leads or suggestions welcome! Thank you! Cris Anderson, Minneapolis, MN 612-209-2712, cris@kairosalive.org

Hi Cris:

Unfortunately, the mast is the Achille's Heel of our beloved daysailers. Bottom line, broke the mast, may as well get a new boat. Why? Shipping! A new mast costs about a grand, but to ship it, it needs to be crated and then shipped commercial freight (aka an 18-wheeler truck), because it's both long and fragile. That costs about another grand. You are way better off buying another boat and cannibalizing. The good news is that any mast from any DS (1,2 or 3) will fit any other DS.

Once in a while, you luck out, I believe this guy is in your neck of the woods:

If he's still selling, easiest way to pick up a mast is to just trailer your boat on over and put it on top. And if this guy is still selling, then jump on it, he's in MN:

Good luck!
