The Fifth Annual Texas 200 will be held June 11 - 15, 2012. The event starts at Port Isabel, Texas and will be sailing the intracoastal waterway up to Seadrift, Texas. This event will be 5 days of sailing with 4 nights of camping.

I will be sailing the event again this year. Boats that participate are generally range in size from 8' to 25'. There is a good mix of home built and production boats.

I'm headed to the Texas 200 on Friday. Going to see if my DS2 can make the trip again.

Hi John
I thoroughly enjoyed your article in the Day Sailer Quarterly on the Texas 200. The narrative made me feel as if I was there and the pictures told the rest of the story. Nice job !!!

John--I agree. Great article and exactly what the quarterly needs more of.

Well done!

Totally have to agree with Sean. I fully appreciate the effort John has taken in documenting his experience and it would be great if other non-racers reported on more of their exploits.

Thanks. I would like to see some articles from some others that I know are doing similar events. I know there are a couple DS2's on the forum that belong to the West Coast Trailer Sailor Squadron (WCTSS) http://members.ij.net/wctss/wctss/ and Facebook. They do several weekend events on the west coast of Florida. I also know there have been DS's on the Florida 120.

This year's Everglades Challenge (Starts from Ft. DeSoto on March 1st.) has two Day Sailers registered. A "93 SL DS1" is registered for the 64 mile Ultra Marathon and a "restored 70's DS" sailing the 300 mile Everglades Challenge. http://www.watertribe.com/Events/ShowRosters.aspx Maybe one of the DS sailors in Florida might meet them at the start and talk to them about doing an article.
