Well, this is disappointing. But, after all, it was weather dependent all along. I reluctantly agree that the weather does look questionable. I probably will not be able to make the rain date. I have plans to be in New Hampshire and hopefully sailing. It should be a fun weekend for you to be sailing, with the Charles W. Morgan arriving. Thanks for the effort of planning this event. Maybe we can get together another time this summer.

Hey, Folks,

Did some version of this cruise ever take place? I've been waiting to hear a report.

Hi Sean,

Unfortunately, no. The meet-up just didn't work out. Nearly everyone cancelled in the week leading up to the event and I called it off because the weather was questionable for the early morning.

I would still be willing to sail with anyone who wanted to come down during a weekend.

Best,
Ryan

Ryan,

I would have loved to come to the one last year, or to have participated in the one this year, had it not been cancelled, but timing and economics just would not allow it.

I'm looking forward to attending next year (hopefully) if you guys have one again. I can see how it's really hard to organize something like this well in advance, only to have it ruined by weather. Maybe setting it up as a camping thing of two or three days would still make it worth going through with if only a morning has to be scrubbed. I know that would make the event a little more worth the trip I would have to make. But I know schedules and organizing are tough to deal with no matter how you approach it.

Thanks for letting me know--and sorry that it didn't work out!

For those on the east coast, there is an event called the OBX130 that will be taking place in August of 2015. This event is similar to the Texas 200 and the Florida 120, except it takes place on the Outer Banks area. Information for it is on Facebook under the group OBX130.
