P.S.
This would be a great tune-up regatta for the North American Championship, about a month later!
Also, for the non-racers in the family, there is a lot to do in the immediate area. We are walking distance from the Columbus Zoo, and the Six Flags Water Park Wyandotte Lake. And most people have Monday off for a leisurely drive back!

The Fleet 98 Memorial Day Regatta kicked off on Saturday, May 27th 2005 to sunny skies and gusty winds. Six Daysailers participated in this year’s event. The first race featured fierce competition for second place between Kevin and Molly Flanagan and J.P. Clowes and Shari Smith. .
After a break for lunch, where we all noticed the large red blips on the Radar Weather Channel, we returned to racing hoping to get just one more in. Just as the fleet was preparing to round the second mark, (the mark furthest from the docks,) the red blips manifested themselves into a strong thunderstorm, which forced an abandonment of the race, and canceled further racing for the day. The daysailer fleet, the furthest fleet away from the docks, showed its seamanship skills by returning to the docks soaked only by rainfall despite the heavy gusts of wind produced by the storm. A wonderful dinner prepared by Krista Graham, fun, and camaraderie, filled the rest of the afternoon and evening.
Ken Meeks, Rosalee Kinney, and Frank Fezco got up extra early on Sunday to prepare a great breakfast for the fleet. This was the perfect beginning to what can only be described as perfect weather for sailboat racing in Central Ohio. Mild temperatures, unusually steady breezes and plenty of sunshine greeted the fleet. We squeezed in three races before our noon deadline, allowing a total of four. In the end, our Yacht Club Commodore, Scott Graham, came away with the victory. First, second and third place boats took home unique trophies provided by Kevin and Molly Flanagan.
