No prob - I had a feeling it would be going somewhere else!

Perhaps Events would be better, as we had begun discussing a WCTSS outing next month ... ?

When you are ready, start a topic specifically about your event. You can make links to posts and topics easily enough if you need to point readers to some stuff already discussed.

Now Ella's been out on some big water - can't you just tell how much she hates sailing? ;-P

I was talking to a 75-year-old friend one time, and he said "I've been sailing for 60 years and every time I go out I learn something new." Ella will be able to say that when she's 62. Pretty cool.

I think she is planning to take over the boat.

Doesn't she, though. There's so much determination behind that smile.

We can only hope she will still be sailing at 62! Sure hope there are still decent waters to sail on by then ... ?

That *is* quite the "maniacal grin" she's sporting there, but in reality, she had just been complaining that she was cold. The standard response to any Ella "waa waa" is currently this:

So I cued that up on the stereo. She laughs hysterically every time she hears that clip, so for the time being it's the "go-to" response to any time she complains about pretty much anything. She begged us to go sailing that day, so sailing she went. She knows the drill: once you get on the boat, you have to deal with whatever until you get off. This is also part of what we're trying to teach her about life in general ... ;-P

How did we ever manage without stereo?! :P

But perhaps Ella's practicing the "feral grin" for this kind of occasion:

Sailing along the shore of the bay and "scaring" the natives was great fun, and staying close to shore is the thing to do with that kind of crew, the kids wanted to be seen, and not least from a safety point of view it's nice to know adults could stand that close to shore. But also, so we could land every so often so that everyone could take turns.

See, Tim, endless fun coming your way :)
