I remember reading an extensive history of the DaySailer that traced the evolution of the boat through the various builders. It gave fairly explicit information about the construction and features of each bulder's model. I don't remember if I read this on the forum, or in an old issue of the DS quarterly. I searched through the forum and couldn't locate it. Can someone repost the information or direct me to the source?

Found the following PDF in the Arlington Yacht Club news. Scroll down to pg. 3, "A Short History of the Day Sailer".

Don't know if this is want you recall but I though it was interesting.

Thanks, Peter. I thought I had seen something with a little more information on the newer builders (Spindrift, Sunfish-Laser, Cape Cod), but this is a good start.

perhaps this is what you are looking for

excerpt from my book "Understanding Maintaining and Repairing your Oday DaysailerII"

..."From 1957-1977 the O'Day company built first the Day Sailer I, and then the Day Sailer II. The DS I's were made by Oday in 1957 to 72, by Can Am in 1974, by Rebel from 1981 to 83, Spindrift 84-87, Precision 88-90, McGlaughlin in 91 and 92, Sunfish Laser 94 to 96, and Cape Cod from 1997 to the present. DS I's were not made in 1973 and from 1975 to 1980, nor in 1993. "...

Bob,

I didn't see this info in the online copy of the handbook? Is it available only in the print version?

That's right. It's in the "red cover" edition from 2000.
