DS II or DS III??...I'm confused

Postby oldnellie » Mon Nov 14, 2005 8:27 pm

:?: ok, I know I have an O'Day Daysailer but what generation? The hull is a 1986 which by the Tech Info on the site automatically makes it a DS III but per Roger Conrad's book DS II's were made into 1986. The hull number is 12928 which is within the range of DS II hull numbers (per the site tech info). The original typed invoice id'd the boat as a DS III. And then there's the brochure that came with the boat for a DS III which sure looks like my boat......
Not that the whole issue amounts to a hill of beans....the boat has only seen the water for 25 hours and was stored in a barn until I got it...basically a new boat aged in the 'cask'....I managed to sail it twice so far and I love her

Can you send us a picture? It is pretty easy to tell by looking, but hard to describe the differences. Probably the easiest one to describe is are the Gunn'ls flat, or is there a combing there? If they are flat, then it is a III. If there is a combing, that makes it uncomfortable to hike out on, then it is a II.

I finally took a few pictures...hopefully they are good enough. From what you said I believe that my boat is a DS III...but I'ld like to know for sure. Thanks for your help.
