Replacement Rudder/tiller needed...

Postby Guest » Mon Jun 14, 2004 10:06 am

I ahve a Designers Choice Sailboat manufact. by Howmar boats (no longer in business). I capsized and the pin broke and the rudder/tiller sank and I couldn't save it. I need a replacement. Any suggestions where I could have a new one made? I have 3 pictures and all of the specs. of the old rudder/tiller?

Sorry about your misfortune. I noticed the comment from Swaz about DC rudders.

Rudder Info

The rudder's are made in England and cost $500.00 each, That is the extent of the knowledge that I have of them. I don't even know the company name that makes them. If you can't get one from Howmar (see contact info on DC web page) you can try to make one. Here are some pictures to help you out...

Rudder1, Normal Sailing position
Rudder2, Up position
Rudder3

Have you noticed anyone using 4 door sedan like Toyata or Subaru for towing a sailboat?
Thanks
